Roscommon Weekend Sports Preview April 29th

Camogie, Soccer, Hurling, Gaelic Football, Golf, Handball and Running form four days of Bank Holiday Weekend Sporting action through Roscommon (and beyond).

Camogie

Another weekend and another national final for Roscommon Camogie. This time it’s the turn of the Juniors as Roscommon’s Siobhán Coyle (pictured above) and her team-mates as they take on Armagh in the Irish Daily Star National Camogie League Division 3 Final tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm in Kinnegad.

Soccer

Athlone Town look to continue winning ways against Shelbourne at 6:45pm – read the preview here .

Boyle Celtic host Calry Bohs in the Great Southern Hotel Super League at 7.45pm this evening.

This weekend’s Roscommon and District Football League and Cup fixtures are spread over four days and include the first round of the Umbro Masters League. Full fixtures here

Hurling

The unbeaten Roscommon Senior Hurlers are away to Antrim in the Round 2A of the Christy Ring Cup tomorrow at 3:30pm.

Ladies Football

On Saturday the Roscommon Intermediate Ladies Footballers take on Leitrim in the Connacht Championship at 4pm in Pairc Naomh Mhuire, Carrick on Shannon.

While on Monday the Minor Ladies Footballers take on Leitrim in the Connacht B Final at 3pm in Ballyhaunis GAA Grounds.

Gaelic Football

On Sunday, the Connacht Senior Football Championship begins as Roscommon take on New York. The game throws in at 9pm Irish time. An interview with Kevin McStay on clubrossie.ie suggests that a number of the Under 21 players could make their Senior Championship debuts.

Golf

Tournaments in Athlone, Boyle and Carrick this weekend. Tonight is also the annual Curry and Quiz night in Boyle.

Running

The 3rd Annual Loughglynn Woodlands 5k and 10k Walk/Jog/Run takes place on Sunday May 1st. The course is measured and marked, and Race officially timed and full details can be found here

And on Monday the Roscommon Care to Run Mini Marathon, gets under way from Hannon’s Hotel, Athlone Road, Roscommon at 3pm. There will be a 10k (timed & chipped) and a 5k (unchipped) Run Routes. Handball

A number of Roscommon players will compete in the Irish 40×20 Nationals, which will be held at various venues around Belfast this weekend.
