Ladies Gaelic

Hard luck to the U 16 team who were defeated in their Division 3A final on Sunday. The first half was a low scoring affair with two evenly matched teams however Western Gaels should have been further ahead having missed some very scoreable chances . Half time score Western Gaels 0-08 Kilbride 1-02. The second half began with Kilbride scoring an early goal from the boot of Aine Griifin following a lovely passing move to level proceedings . However Western Gaels went on to score a further 3 goals and 3 points while Kilbride could only manage 2 -02 with Aine Griiffin completing her hat trick and was unlucky not to get a fourth as her penalty attempt just drifted left of the post after sub Aoife Leonard was fouled in the large paralleogram when she was through on goal. Final score Western Gaels 3-11 Kilbride 3-04. Well done to each and every one of the girls who tried their utmost right up to the final whistle. A big thank you to the management team of Colm , Michael ,Donal and Laura for all their hard work over the past few weeks. Thanks also to all the supporters who travelled to cheer on the team. Unfortunately the team were without Co U 16 panelist Bláithín O Beirne on the day due to illness so we wish her a speedy recovery.
