Buccanners Under 16s defeated Ballina to claim the Connacht A League title for the third year in a row.

Ladies Gaelic
Roscommon survived a late Sligo rally to open their TG4 Connacht Ladies Intermediate Championship campaign with a 1-15 to 2-6 win.

Saturday
Soccer
In The Herald sponsored Roscommon and District Football League Cup Quarter-Finals Shiven Rovers defeated Lough Harps 3-1 after Extra Time. The game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.
In The Herald Premier Division Ballymoe defeated Dysart 1-0.
Hurling
Goals from Cillian Egan and Jamie Lawlor gave the Roscommon Senior Hurlers a 2-20 to 0-15 win over Derry in the opening round of the Christy Ring Cup. They will now face Antrim away in Round 2A of the competition.
Handball
Siobhan Tully and Linda Connolly were defeated by Dublin in the All-Ireland Junior B Doubles Handball Final on a scoreline of 21-9, 19-21, 14-21.
Rugby
Buccaneers were defeated 41-19 by Ballynahinch in the Ulster Bank AIL Promotion-Relegation Play-off. Read the report here
Camogie
The dream of successive All-Ireland Minor titles for the Roscommon Camogie team ended when they were defeated by a single goal in Stradone, Co. Cavan earlier. It ended Down 1-6 Roscommon 0-6.
Friday
Ladies Gaelic
The Roscommon Under 14 Ladies Footballers enjoyed a 9-10 to 2-4 win over Sligo in the Connacht Championship.
Soccer
There were two games in the The Herald Premier Division of the Roscommon and District Football League – Moore United defeated MD Town 5-0 and Castlerea Celtic defeated neighbours Ballaghaderreen 4-3. In Round 2 of the Division 2 Cup CP Ajax defeated Roscommon United 3-0.
Elsewhere, Athlone Town defeated Cabinteely 3-1 in the Airtricity League First Division.
