Verdict reached in Murder Trial

Two men have been found guilty of murdering 23-year-old Patryk Krupa at Bogganfin, Athlone in June 2014 by beating him unconscious and leaving him to drown in the River Shannon. Leszek Sychulec and Andrzej Gruchacz will be sentenced on June 13th.

Strike Action at Roscommon County Council

Staff at Roscommon County Council, who are members of the IMPACT Trade Union have voted to take industrial action on May 3rd. SIPTU Staff may also consider similar action

Bog Fire

The N60 was closed for over two hours today as Emergency Service dealt with a Bog Fire approximately 2km outside Ballymoe.

Soccer

In The Herald Premier Division Moore Utd defeated MD Town 5-0 and Castlerea Celtic defeated neighbours Ballaghaderreen FC 4-3 and in Round 2 of the Division 2 Cup it finished CP Ajax 3 Roscommon United 0.

Elsewhere Athlone Town defeated Cabinteely 3-1 in the Airtricity League First Division.

Credit Unions

Chairman of Boyle Credit Union Martin Dolan is seeking election to the Irish League of Credit Union’s National Supervisory Board at the organisation’s AGM in Limerick this weekend.

Limited Tickets remain for Allianz League Finals

The GAA is advising patrons attending Sunday’s Allianz Football League Division 1 and 2 Finals and the LAOCHRA show to arrive early to facilitate the safe and comfortable entry of what is expected to be a capacity crowd. The last remaining Terrance tickets are on sale via gaa.ie and selected SuperValu and Centra outlets.
Turnstiles will open at 12.30pm, Cavan v Tyrone will start at 1.30pm, Dublin v Kerry will start at 3.30pm and the LAOCHRA show will start approximately 20 minutes after the end of the Division 1 final and last for approximately 30 minutes. Extra time will be played, if required, in both games.
