There was a “reasonable trade” and 77% clearance at yesterday’s Heifer Sale in Elphin Mart and the average prices were as follows
Heifers weighing 301kg to 400kg
Average price achieved €1,010, with a top price of €1,200 for a 400kg Charolais.
Heifers weighing 401kg to 500kg
Average price achieved €1,167 with a top price of €1,390 for a 500kg Charolais.
Heifers weighing 501kg to 780kg
Average price achieved €1,335 with a top price of €1,735 for a 695kg Charolais Heifer
The next sales at Elphin Mart takes place next Monday, April 18th. A sale of Dry Cows, Suckler Cows, In-Calf Heifers and Weanlings gets under way at 6p.m. and the usual Sheep Sale begins at 7.30p.m
