Coaching News

A. Upcoming Courses
1) Child Protection in Sport Awareness Course
We are arranging this Course within our club to facilitate those who could not sit the recent course. Update on timing of course shortly.
2) Decision making presentation club coaches workshop.
On Saturday April 16th Roscommon Coaching and Games Developing is hosting a workshop presentation on decision making for all club coaches and the presenter is Damien Young former Tipperary intercounty minor, U21 and senior hurler. Damien is currently a Lecturer in Strength & Conditioning in Limerick IT.
This presentation is for both football and hurling club coaches and the indoor workshop will be followed by an outdoor practical session in both codes. The indoor presentation will commence at 10.15am sharp in Hannon’s Hotel Roscommon Town and at 11.45am our club hurling coaches will have a practical session in Roscommon CC pitch while our football coaches will also undertake a practical session in Dr Hyde Park at 11.45am with Roscommon County senior team coach Liam McHale.
Players make numerous decisions during a game, both with and without the ball. As a coach, have you thought about the decisions players make in a game? Have you thought about how you design your practice activities to help players make decisions for themselves? During this presentation, three main topics will be addressed:
1. What is decision making.
2. Decision making in a game.
3. How you as a coach can adapt your activities to assist and challenge the player’s decision making.
