Castlerea 1-6 Clann na nGael U-16s 5-14

Following the loss to St. Brigids the previous Sunday, Clann U-16’s made the trip to Castlerea on Tuesday last to face the local team in the next round of the U-16 Div 1 League.
Due to some heavy showers during the day, the conditions were testing for both sides. Clann were slow to start and Castlerea had the better of the opening exchanges but following a goal for Castlerea after approximately 15 mins, Clann finally came to life and led at half-time by 3-8 to 1-3.
Again, Clann opened the second half slowly and Castlerea had two more points on the board before Clann came to life again. Clann dominated from this stage to the end of the game despite the best efforts of the lads from Castlerea.

Clann na nGael 11-7 Michael Glaveys 11-5

Clann Under 14 boys Division 4 team came out on top in a goal fest in Johnstown against a strong Michael Glaveys first team, Glaveys got off to a good start with an early goal but Clann settle in well and got on top around the middle of the park.
With a good supply of ball to the forwards, Clann pushed on and gained a large advantage but to Glaveys credit they came back and got a few scores before Half Time.
In the second half Glaveys came out strong and really made a game of it but credit must go to the young Clann team on holding off the challenge with some excellent defending.

Strokestown 2-16 Clann na nGael C 1-10

An away game this weekend saw Clann C Team travel to Strokestown. With very poor weather conditions and constant rain throughout this match it still provided plenty of good play from both sides.

Some great performances from Daragh Kildea, Ian Naughton, Dylan Earle and Martin Keena left the scores Clann 1-07 to Strokestown 1-08 at half time.
Strokestown started the 2nd half with intensity and netted in the first minute and followed up with 2 points from play. Clann fought back with points from Martin Keena, Ian Naughton and Eoin O’ Neill. Some good displays from Emmet Rock and Daniel Harney when the latter moved to midfield.
However Strokestown went on a scoring spree and finished strong with several points and a goal from play.
