Under 17 footballers play Cork on Saturday
On this Saturday April 9th Roscommon U17 footballers play Cork in a challenge game in St Brigid’s GAA ground at 1.30pm. The panel have being working hard under their management team and have forged strong links with our minor management and their structures.
Third Level students required for GAA Cul Camps
Roscommon GAA Coaching and Games Development are seeking Third Level students with a strong interest in Gaelic Games and sporting background for employment on our Roscommon GAA Kellogg’s Cul camps in July. Students must apply with Cover letter and CV by email to [email protected] or leave CV into Roscommon GAA Office, Racecourse Road, Roscommon for the attention of Willie Hegarty.
U10 clubs enjoyed their Go Games experience
The eight clubs who took part in our half-time U10 Go Games blitz during the recent Roscommon V Mayo and Dublin NFL games at Dr Hyde Park enjoyed the occasion and experience. Roscommon Coaching and Games Development thank Clann Na nGael, St Dominic’s, Kilmore, St Croan’s, Padraig Pearses, St Brigid’s, Kilbride and St Aidan’s for taking part. To all the clubs who requested to be part of our new venture promoting our game at grass roots level and with Roscommon once again in Division One for 2017 we hope to have all our underage clubs completed by the end of next year’s league.
Part-Time school Coaches ABC workshop
On this Wednesday April 6th Roscommon GAA Coaching and Games Development Part-Time Primary School football and hurling coaches are having a workshop on our new ABC Fundamental movement skills programme in the County GYM at 11.30am. TY students from our secondary schools who will be coaching in our schools will also be attendance.
Roscommon GAA Primary School Coaching
Roscommon Coaching and Games Development part-time staff will commence coaching in all primary schools in both football and hurling for a nine week coaching programme from next Monday April 11th.
Decision making presentation coaches workshop
On Saturday April 16th Roscommon GAA Coaching and Games Developing is hosting a workshop presentation on decision making and the presenter is Damien Young former Tipperary intercounty minor, U21 and senior hurler. Damien is currently a Lecturer in Strength & Conditioning in Limerick IT. This presentation is for both football and hurling club coaches and the indoor workshop will be followed by an outdoor practical session in both codes. The indoor presentation will commence at 10.15am sharp in Hannon’s Hotel Roscommon Town and at 11.30 our hurling coaches will have a practical session in Roscommon CC pitch at 11.45am and our football coaches will also undertake a practical session at 11.45am.
Players make numerous decisions during a game, both with and without the ball. As a coach, have you thought about the decisions players make in a game? Have you thought about how you design your practice activities to help players make decisions for themselves?
During this presentation, three main topics will be addressed:
1. What is decision making.
2. Decision making in a game.
3. How you as a coach can adapt your activities to assist and challenge the player’s decision making.
Minor footballers play Leitrim
On this Saturday evening April 9th Roscommon minor footballers play Leitrim in round five of the Connacht minor league. The game is fixed for
Carrick On Shannon with a 5.30pm throw in time. This is Roscommon’s last game in the league and it has proved to be a very good campaign for Kieran Kilkenny and his panel of players.
U16 hurlers continue GYM programme
Roscommon U16 hurling development squad continue their eight week S&C programme in the County GYM this Saturday morning April 9th at 10.15am under the supervision of our third level S&C student Cathal McDonagh.
U8/U10 Go Games Blitzes
At our next club coaching officers meeting on Thursday April 7th Roscommon Coaching and Games Development will be planning their U8/U10 Go Games blitzes for the summer commencing in early May in both Football and Hurling. Roscommon GAA Kellogg’s Cul Camps
The National GAA Kellogg’s Cul Camps web site for 2016 is now active for all patents to book their kids into the Roscommon GAA camps for this summer commencing July 4th. Please log into kelloggs.gaa.ie and click into County Roscommon and book your kids into the camp of your choice. Cost- €55, €100 for two kids, €40 per child after that.
