In a statement release a short time ago Roscommon GAA Chairman Seamus Sweeney explained that Roscommon GAA wanted to play all home games in Hyde Park however nature was working against them. “We host the Dubs in Hyde Park on Sunday and that has been marked on the calendar for a long time. We want to host the All-Ireland champions in Hyde Park. I’m confident that Peter Murray and his wonderful team will have the pitch in good order for Sunday. We hope to carry out major works on the pitch in the summer and have it ready for 2017” he stated.
As a consequence of the Under 21 move, the Connacht GAA Minor Football League game between Galway and Roscommon returns to being played at a Galway venue as originally intended. It will now be played in Tuam Stadium on Saturday at 1.30pm.
