Senior Football
O’Gara Cup, St Dominics 0-11, Tulsk 1-12. Tulsk came out on top in this close encounter in Tulsk on Sunday. The all-important score coming with five minutes remaining when Tulsk substitute James Murray finished to the net following a good five man move to open up a five point gap. The sides swapped scores throughout the first half with Tulsk just holding advantage at the break 0-7 to 0-6. Dominics were slow out of the blocks after the break and Tulsk scored four early points before the Knockcroghery men responded with three of their own to close the gap to two but then Murray struck for the all-important goal and despite Dominics trying hard they just could not bridge the gap despite scoring two late points. Camogie
Senior: Training continues for the Junior/Senior team on Tuesday evening at 8pm in St Johns FC Astroturf pitch and Saturday morning at 10am at the pitch. First game of the season is on 2nd April. U14s: St. Dominic’s U14 camogie team played their first championship game of this year’s Feile campaign on Saturday the 12th March in Ballyforan when they took on a very strong Four Roads side. This was game one of a series of five matches in the league part of this competition. All of the girls showed a high level of work rate, commitment and great character but special mention must go to goal keeper Ellen Cafferkey who made some outstanding saves and has a bright future ahead of her. Team: 1. Ellen Cafferkey. 2. Natasha Keenan. 3. Tara Murphy. 4. Katie Lohan. 5. Laoise Mahon. 6. Chloe McDonnell (Capt). 7. Ciara Martin. 8. Anna Campbell. 9. Esther Bridcut Barry. 10. Davina Touhey. 11. Ina Van Opstal. 12. Evelyn Kilcline. 13. Hannah Dempsey. 14. Ali Campbell. 15. Katie O’Brien. Subs. Katie Hennessy for Hannah Dempsey. Stephanie McCormack and Jessica Keenan. The U14s recorded their first win of this year’s Feile championship this Saturday when they defeated Oran in Knockcroghery. In what was a very competitive game, St Dominics got in front through a very well taken goal by Kate O’Brien who stuck a ground stroke to the corner of the net from eight metres out rewarding some sustained possession and pressure in Oran’s half. The second half was just as competitive throughout and St Dominics were rewarded early in the half when Anna Campbell scored a point from play from about twenty metres out. The game ebbed and flowed throughout and St Dominics held out for a well-earned win. The team as a whole played very well but special mention must go to Kate Lohan who was rock solid in the full back line, captain Chloe McDonnell who worked tirelessly throughout and Anna Campbell who oozed class every time she was on the ball. Special thanks to Ronan Kilcline who stepped in at short notice to referee the game. Team: 1. Ellen Cafferkey. 2. Kate Lohan. 3. Tara Murphy. 4. Laoise Mahon. 5. Chloe Mc Donnell. 6. Ciara Martin. 7. Ina Van Opstal. 8. Anna Campbell. 9. Esther Bridcut Barry. 10. Niamh Cuttle. 11. Leona Harney. 12. Evelyn Kilcline. 13. Kate O Brien. Subs. Ciara Roddy for Tara Murphy. Hannah Dempsey for Kate O Brien. Áine Cassidy for Leona Harney. Natasha Keenan for Evelyn Kilcline.
