St Barrys defeat St Ronans in Division 4 League
St Barrys 1-11 St Ronans 2-5
St Barrys had a hard fought win over St Ronan’s in the Division 4 League on Sunday morning. In heavy conditions, scores were hard to come by, and an early St Ronan’s goal helped them to a 1-7 to 5 point win at halftime. The teams exchanged scores early in the second half, but the game turned when a good St Barry’s move was well finished by David Keenan to the net. The introduction of the youthful Emmett Conroy and James Bennett added impetus to the St Barry’s attack, and they ran out good value for their 3 point win.
St Barry’s: Ronan Mitchell, Ray Rogers, Aaron Murtagh, Mark Naughton, Trevor Murtagh, David Keenan(1-2), James Bennett, Ciaran Casserly, Ciaran Garraghan, Joey Keenan, John Murtagh(0-2), Philip Casserly, Kyle Cawley(0-2), Finbar McGowan(0-4), Barry Brennan. Subs: Emmet Conroy for P Casserly, James (Clonmore) Bennett (0-1) for Brennan, Anthony McGowan for Cawley.
Under 16 Boys
St Barrys / Kilglass 2-5 Eire Og 2-8
Our U16 Lads were second best in their Division 4 League game against Eire Og played in wintry conditions in Loughlynn on Saturday. Our lads started in whirlwind fashion, scoring two early goals, but as the game went on we appeared to lose our way against an improving Eire Og. We led by 2 at halftime, but facing a strong wind we couldn’t hang on and in spite of getting the last 2 scores, were beaten by 3 points in the end.
