Under 8 Parent and Child Session

We held a special Under 8 Parent & Child night in Drum Hall on Thursday the 25th of February. Every child came with a parent/guardian, many of who knew little or nothing about GAA!
Led by Declan O’Flaherty, Clann’s coaching officer, we went through a few simple drills and exercises that parents and children can play together at home. All the children and parents had a great time, with the parents doing their best to keep up with the children!
The exhausted parents retired to have a short chat and a cup of tea/coffee 15 minutes before the end of the session.

Minor Bs record away win in Division 4 League

KILGLASS GAELS 3-02 CLANN NA NGAEL 2-09
Clann’s Minor second team made the trip north to the picturesque area of Kilglass last Sat for their second game in the Minor Div 4 league.
After being defeated by a well drilled Kilbride in their opening fixture in the Div 4 league the previous Monday evening in Johnstown by eight points where they gave a good account of themselves, the panel were hoping to again give a good a account of themselves and maybe improve on the performance given against Kilbride.
The first half was a close affair with the half ending with both sides level on a scoreline of Clann 0-4, Kilglass/St. Barrys 1-1. Clann were probably lucky to be level as the home side were the better side in the first half and kicked a few wides and also missed a penalty.
The second half opened as the first had ended with both sides giving of their best. Clann also missed a penalty in this opening period of the second half. However the miss plus a few changes of personnel and positional switches seemed to inspire Clann and with 10 mins to go they led by 4 pts on a scoreline of 1-8 to 2-1. At this stage the home started to gain the upper hand and notched 1-1 to level the scores and looked like they were going to go on to win but Clann steadied the ship and hit back to land 1-1 of their own. Try as they might the home side could not get the scores they needed in the closing minutes and Clann held on to run out winners by four points on a scoreline of 2-9 to 3-2.
Both sides gave of their best in heavy underfoot conditions on a dry day. The Clann lads can be happy as a collective with their performance.
Clann: S. Seery, S. Ryan, A. Harney, M.Kelly, P.O’Brien (0-1 – Capt), O. Rock, D. Duff, D. Sumner (0-1), O. Lennon, Anthony Kelly (0-1), R. Hardiman (0-1), E. Fallon (0-1), Andrew Kelly (0-1), P. Foley (1-1), R. Moran (0-2), C. Lennon, M. Gannon (1-0).

Kilbride too strong for Minor Division 4 Team
CLANN NA NGAEL 2-05 KILBRIDE 4-09
Clann’s second team at minor level got their campaign up and running in Johnstown on Monday night last and despite a decent come back on the 2nd half, they came up short against a strong and determined Kilbride outfit. Clann could not recover from a poor start and fell behind to a blitz of scores from the visitors. But a show of character and grit saw them match their opponents in the latter part of the game.
Clann’s goals scorers were Andrew Kelly and Peter Foley, backed up by a number of points from Liam Donnelly and one from Patrick O’Brien. Solid defence from Cian Mulvey and Oisín Rock helped restrict Kilbride together with some solid saves from Sean Seery. A very good run out for the team, building a good foundation for the year ahead.
