Cloonfad United 1-3 Ballymoe

Cloonfad faced Ballymoe on Friday night knowing defeat was not an option but despite our best efforts we could have no complaints coming out the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline. Not for the first time this season we conceded an early goal and only for keeper Kurt Reinhdart Ballymoe would have been out of sight long before Cloonfad started to play. The hard working Ryan Merchant looked Cloonfad’s best chance of getting back into the game but no one could make the most of his crosses into the penalty area. Patrick Kiely almost equalized on 38 mins but his effort was saved by the Ballymoe keeper. Shane Fagan did level on 48 mins with a well struck free kick from 35 yards. However that was a good as it got for Cloonfad and Ballymoe took command for the rest of the contest to run out comfortable winners. The Cloonfad players as usual gave everything they had but unless some points are put on the premier division soon we will find it almost impossible to stay up.
Unfortunately we are away to leaders Ballinasloe town next Saturday night which is probably the one fixture we could do without right now.
