Health Services have got worse – Fitzmaurice

“Health services in this constituency will be once again one of the biggest issues in this election campaign, and the people of Roscommon and East Galway know that despite all the reports and fine words we have heard over the past five years that Health services have got worse in many areas” That’s what Michael Fitzmaurice Independent candidate said earlier today.

“The ambulance service is a case in point. We had a big announcement about a new ambulance base in Loughglynn, but to date it has not been adequately staffed and remains idle. The existing ambulance staff who have to cover such a huge area are doing a marvellous job but the Government must give an undertaking that they will provide the proper resources in terms of vehicles and staff to open the ambulance base in Loughglynn immediately. Using existing staff and vehicles is not going to improve the service” he said.

“There are so many problems in the health service with people on trolleys in A & E departments, long waiting lists, cuts to home health packages and many other problems. We need to see real progress and not just photo calls and announcements every few months hoping the problems will go away” he concluded.
