Roscommon will be represented in four of the eight disciplines at today’s All-Ireland Finals of Scór na nÓg – the GAA’s cultural competition for people under 17.
Scór was established by the GAA in 1969 and has proven to be very popular in Roscommon since the beginning. It’s aim is to promote Ireland’s traditional pastimes and culture while offering club members the chance to meet up, have fun and represent their club during the winter while Football and Hurling had ceased.
St. Dominics will get the action under way in the Figure Dancing competition. Aoife McLoughlin of Kilbride takes to the stage in the Solo Singing competition. Katie Heneghan of St. Aidans represents Club, County and Province in the Recitation / Storytelling competition and Elphin will battle it out in the Table Quiz, which is due to get under way shortly.
The events take place in the INEC Killarney and highlights will be broadcast on Irish TV over the coming weeks.
The Adult equivalent – Scór Sinsear – will get under way next month. The details of the Provincial Final have yet to be confirmed but the All-Ireland Final also taking place in the INEC Killarney, on Saturday April 2nd.
