Gaelic Football

The Roscommon Senior Footballers were defeated by Galway in the FBD Connacht League Final by 2-80 to 0-13. Click here to read our report

Soccer

There has been a number of postponements in the Roscommon and District Football League tonight. In The Herald Premier Division Castlerea Celtic v Skyvalley Rovers is off and will now kick off tomorrow (Sunday) at 11am in Skyvalley. Moore United v Cloonfad has also been postponed. In the Norios Takeaway Division 1 Glen Celtic v Loughglynn United has been postponed.

Special Olympics

There was provincial success for two Roscommon Special Olympics Club Floorball Teams. The Men won the Gold Medal in the Division Two event and the Ladies won Gold in their Division.

Gaelic Football

Roscommon’s Hastings Cup Semi-Final Semi_Final against Leitrim was abandoned early in the second half when medical staff were called in to treat Leitrim’s Alan McTague, who collapsed. An Ambulance and the Air Corps Helicopter attended the scene and Leitrim GAA have confirmed that Alan is recovering well in University Hospital, Galway.
Incidentally, Roscommon led by 0-7 to 0-5 before the game was stopped.

Rugby

Denis Buckley started for Connacht and scored his first European Try in their 47-5 win over Enisei. Jack Carty was introduced as a second half substitute and a converted a Caolin Blade try. They have qualified for the Quarter-Final however their opposition won’t be confirmed until after the last game in the group tonight.

Elsewhere, Daniel Qualter played for the Connacht Eagles in their 10-3 British and Irish Cup defeat to “Dragon’s Select”. Cian Romaine was named on the bench.

Hurling

The Connacht Senior Hurling League game between Roscommon and NUI Galway, due to be played on Saturday at 2pm, has been postponed.
