Staff from the Valuation Office in Dublin will be available to meet ratepayers in the offices of Roscommon County Council, Aras an Chontae, Roscommon later this month.

They will be in attendance on Monday, January 30th and Tuesday, January 31st during normal office opening hours. The Roscommon County Council Office hours are 9.30am. to 1pm. and 2 pm to 5.30pm.

The purpose of arranging the meetings is to address general queries in relation to the recent revaluation process for commercial properties throughout the county. Ratepayers are in the process of receiving a “Proposed Valuation Certificate” from the Valuation Office. This Certificate will state the “Proposed Valuation” (Net Annual Value) for each property which will be entered on the new valuation list and which will be used to calculate each Ratepayer’s liability for 2018 and subsequent years. The Proposed Valuation of the property is multiplied by the “Annual Rate on Valuation” (ARV) to calculate the amount of commercial rates payable per annum from 2018 onwards. The indicative ARV for Co Roscommon for 2018 is 0.25

To calculate the indicative commercial rates liability for 2018 please multiply the “Proposed
Valuation” as advised by the Valuation Office by 0.25.

e.g. The proposed Valuation of the property = €25,000 and the Annual Rate on Valuation is 0.25 . Therefore the estimated Rates Liability for 2018 will be €25,000 multiplied by 0.25, which equals €6,250.

Ratepayers are encouraged to attend the meetings referred to above in order to address any issues of concern in relation to the valuation process. Those who are dissatisfied with the Proposed Valuation that they have received can make representations to the Valuation Office within 40 days from the date of issue of the “Proposed Valuation Certificate”.
