Handball

Fiona Tully and Lauren O’Riordan won All-Ireland Minor and Intermediate 60×30 Handball titles today. Aengus Cunningham reports on the action here

Soccer

A number of Roscommon and District Football League games fell victim of the weather this weekend but there was still plenty of goals. Vincent Brooks looks back on the action.

Gaelic Games

Kilmore and Oran booked their places in the Intermediate Football Championship Final and in the Junior A decider Creggs will take on Kilglass Gaels. Clann na nGael are the O’Rourke Cup Champions again, defeating Roscommon Gaels by 1-10 to 1-7.
There was plenty of underage silverware on offer over the weekend with Under 16 Football Championship Finals and Under 12 Football League Finals contested. Catch up on all the results here

Camogie

Athleague and Four Roads will contest the Senior Championship Final on Saturday October 15th. Athleague overcame Oran by 2-12 to 1-6 and Four Roads defeated St Dominics by 1-13 to 1-8.

Rugby

Buccaneers claimed their first win of the season, defeating Shannon 27-3. Luke Carty, Shane Layden and Cian Romaine were in action for Buccs.

It was another disappointed weekend for Connacht, losing 17-8 to Scarlets. Jack Carty was on the score sheet, kicking a penalty.

And finally, Horse Racing

It was announced on Saturday that this afternoon’s Meeting at Roscommon would not go ahead. 20mm of Rain fell at the venue on Saturday morning and after considering the forecast for the rest of the weekend the Meeting was cancelled. It is hoped to secure an alternative date for the fixture within the next week or so.
