A 20 year old man has died after the car he was a passenger in hit a ditch at Glebe, Ardcarne – close to the junction with the N4 and the R285 Keadue Road.
The incident took place shortly after midnight. The man was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to Sligo University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car, a man aged 31, and a second passenger, a man aged 37, were also taken to Sligo University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
One lane of the N4 remains open with a stop/go system in operation as Gardai carry out a technical examination.
