Hexafly, led by Ballaghaderren native, wins ‘Best Business Idea’ award

Hexafly, led by CEO and Ballaghaderren native Alvan Hunt has won the “Best Business Idea” Award at Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards which were held in Google HQ Dublin earlier.

Based in Kells Hexafly aims to “bring an insect farming revolution to the world and find smart ways to feed the planet”. Alvan, along with co-founders Patrick McGarvey and John Lynam and Marketing Manager Darren Brennan are currently developing new material sources for the Aqua feed, Chitin and Plant Nutrition Industries through the sustainable farming of insects.

In addition to the title and associated publicity boost today’s Prize also includes a €15,000 investment fund. Roscommon Local Enterprise Office was represented in the “Best Business Idea” by Desmond Dolan and by Kyle McLoughlin in the Best Start-Up Category. Find out more here.
