Western Gaels Annual Table Quiz
Our annual table quiz which was held last Saturday night last was a brilliant success. There was another bumper crowd present with a total number of 55 tables competing for the top prize. After a very tight last few rounds it went all the way to a tie breaker with 3 teams level on 60 points after the 8 rounds. A further tiebreaker round of 5 questions could not separate the teams so it was down a sudden death question which eventually determined the winning table with the Devines coming out on top from the McGarry’s in 2nd place and Sampey’s in 3rd place.

The club extends its sincere thanks to all who supported the fundraiser on the night, to all our local businesses who sponsored over 24 prizes for the raffle (a full sponsor list will be available on the Facebook page ), to Brian and Joan (Into The West) for sponsoring the top prize of €250 and for their hospitality with food etc provided for all teams. Thanks also to our organising team who did a brilliant job in organising the event and who ensured it ran off very efficiently which included all our table collectors, checkers, counters, score keepers etc and to our MC and Quiz master Michael who did a great job all night.

Club Registration 2017:
There will be a club registration night held next Friday night 17th Feb at 8pm in the clubhouse. As our games get set to begin again for the coming year it is extremely important that all players are fully registered before they play for any team this year. Membership fees were set at the AGM back in December 2016 and cost the following:
Family = €100
Adult single = €50
Senior Players (over 18) Ladies & Men = €100
Please ensure you have your membership paid before playing any games so as you are covered under the GAA player injury insurance scheme.
Men’s Football:
Senior Team:
The Devine and Co Accountants sponsored senior team commence their Div 1 league campaign on Saturday night against Roscommon Gaels at 8pm in Lisnamult. We wish Ger and all the team management and players the very best for the year ahead.
Intermediate Team:
The Intermediate team commence their Div 2 league campaign with a home game against Fuerty in Frenchpark on Sunday at 12 noon. Best of luck to the team for the year ahead and please show your support for both game if possible.
Minor Team:
The M Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored Minor team had a disappointing start to their 2017 league with a defeat away to St.Aidans on Sunday morning last.
Final scoreline: St. Aidans 7-7 Western Gaels 2-9.
U-16 Team:
The M Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored U-16 team commence their Div 3 league on Sunday morning next when we face St.Aidans at 11am in Ballyforan.
