Clann na nGael
Under 14 Girls win

Our U.14 Girls played their Div.1 County Semi-Final against a strong Boyle team on Friday 30th of September. This showed to be a great game with excellent displays of football from both teams. Final score 9-19 to 2-8. The Clann na nGael girls will now play our near neighbours St. Brigid’s in the County Final, which will be played in Ballyleague on Sunday 9th October at 2pm. Well done to the girls and management.

Under 12 Divison 4 Summer League Final: Shannon Gaels 1-9 Clann na nGael 1-4

If spirit and heart prove character, then the large crowd who witnessed this game in Enfield on Sunday will testify that these young Clann players had character in abundance. Our boys came up against a bigger and physically stronger team in Shannon Gaels but Clann stood up and battled gallantly. Clann’s search for a goal in the last quarter made for an extremely tense and exciting climax to the game.

Clann’s players displayed a never say die attitude up to the final whistle. All 21 players in the squad got game time, each contributing to a fine performance. Alas, a couple of late scores from the winners sealed the hard fought, but deserved victory for Shannon Gaels.

Plenty to be proud of for the supporters and parents of these young players (most of them being young enough to play U12 next year). Great effort by the manager Ollie Colgen, ably assisted by Mick Galvin and Tony O’Neill. Many thanks to them for their efforts.

Schools Day

On Friday last almost 50 boys and girls from sixth class in schools in the Clann na nGael area participated in a schools day at Connacht GAA centre in Ballyhaunis.
The boys and girls took part in blitz style games, a general knowledge quiz and skills drills. All had a great time and best of all enjoyed a day off school!! Yet another reason to join Clann! Thanks to Ollie Lennon GPO for the invitation and all locals schools for their co-operation and support.
