Ladies Football

On Tuesday 30th of August last our U-8/U-10 ladies played Clan na Gael in their summer series. It was another great turn out by the St. Dominic’s girls with great fun had by all. Thanks again to Adele Corcoran who was on hand to referee. Having been due to play St. Brigid’s on Saturday morning, due to poor weather conditions, that game was postponed and will now take place on Tuesday evening, 6th September.

St Dominic’s Minor and Junior panels had a very enjoyable training session on Sunday morning last. The session was taken by Roscommon Senior players Diarmuid and Ciaran Murtagh. Many thanks to the lads for their time and energy, the sharing of their football knowledge and experience and for their motivational team talk. Thanks also to the large number of girls that made it to the session, not an easy feat first thing on a Sunday morning, especially with all the other commitments that the girls have this time of year. It would not have been possible without the help and support of our wonderful Ladies Football Committee at St Dominics, thanks to Mary, Breda and Michael for the refreshments provided afterwards.

Minor Hurling

The Roscommon Herald sponsored U-8/U-10 County Blitz will take place in Lisnamult on 24th of September, all players welcome.

Our U-12 hurlers faced a strong Four Roads team on Wednesday 31st of August last in Round 6 of their Championship. While they lost the match the St. Dominic’s boys never gave up and gave a good account of themselves. Next Wednesday, 7th September, sees the boys at home to Oran in the final round, all support welcome.

Our U-16 hurlers opened their campaign with a great win over Athleague/Tremane in Knockcroghery last Wednesday. St Dominics were quick out of the blocks and built up an early lead with some lovely scores from Michael Watson, J. Lohan, D. Keenan, C. McCormack and D. Martin. Soon after Lohan cut through for a great solo goal. Another goal from D. Martin saw the home side comfortably ahead at half time. St. Dominic’s continued their rich vein of form in the second half and goals from G. Martin and M. Watson came either side of some super points from long range to seal the win. Final score St Dominics 4-10 Athleague/Tremane 0-06. Team: J. Tiernan, J. Fagan, F. Hoare, K. Morris, C. Fagan, D. Martin, J. McDonnell, C. McCormack, G. Martin, Michael Watson, J. Lohan, E.
