Senior Team

The Devine & Co Chartered Accountants sponsored Senior team completed their Div 1 league with a well deserved win against Boyle on Friday last night. In difficult weather conditions especially in the 2nd half the Gaels fought back from a 4pt deficit at ht to outscore Boyle in the 2nd half and earn the 2pts on a final scoreline of Western Gaels 1-13 Boyle 2-08.
Team: A Hardiman, S Conry, M Higgins, T Mahon, E Ryan, D Ward(0-1), C Cafferkey, J Duffy, B Creighton, F Cregg(0-3), Niall Higgins(0-2f), J MacDonnell, T Gill, D Moran(0-2,1f), S Ryan(1-1). Subs: C Cregg(0-2), S MacDermott, K Higgins(0-1), N Murray, B Cafferkey, A Dowd(0-1).

We are back in championship action again on Saturday when we face Roscommon Gaels in the Quarter-Final in Enfield at 6pm. We would encourage as much support as possible at the game. Best of luck to all involved.

Junior Team

The Devine & Co Chartered Accountants sponsored Junior team ended their Div 3 league campaign with a hard fought draw against our neighbours Ballinameen in vert wet conditions on saturday evening last. Ballinameen were the better side in the opening half and they were 0-07 to 0-01 ahead at the break but to their credit the Gaels battled back in the 2nd half to get within 3 with some good pointed frees from Conor Sampey and Dylan Kennedy. Ballinameen struck for a goal against the run of play to put between the teams again at 1-08 to 0-05 but Western Gaels dominated the final 12 minutes of the game and got back level with a well taken goal from Ian O Reilly but it took a long range free from Conor Samoey in the 3rd minute of injury time to ensure the Gaels got a shire of the spoils on the day on a final scorleine of Western Gaels B 1-09 Ballinameen 1-09. We finished 2nd in the table so we face a semi final playoff against Ballinameen to see who gets promoted to Division 2 for 2017.
