In a social media first, Minister for Communications Denis Naughten is to participate in a live broadcast on Facebook addressing questions from the public on the delivery of high speed broadband to every home and business in Ireland.

The Q&A will be broadcast live on Denis Naughten’s Facebook page from Facebook HQ in Dublin on Tuesday 13th September from 7pm

“As I have said in the past the rollout of high speed broadband is on the scale and significance of rural electrification in the last century and I want to engage with as many people as possible during the live broadcast to hear concerns and answer their questions,” stated Minister Naughten.

“Broadband is a key priority for me and the hundreds of thousands of people who have been frustrated by promises and lack of delivery. That is why I have decided to host a live questions and answers session where members of the general public can login, join a national conversation on broadband and have their questions answered.

“So if you have a question about the broadband plan you have the opportunity to ask me directly via Facebook. I would encourage people to “like” my page in advance at facebook.com/DenisNaughtenTD and you can set up a notification of the commencement of the live broadcast.”

“The National Broadband Plan will see the delivery of high speed broadband to every citizen and premises in Ireland and is vital in particular for rural businesses, start-ups and families,” stated Minister Naughten. “I would encourage people throughout the area who want to learn more, or who have a specific question they would like addressed, to visit my Facebook page on the evening and submit their question during the course of the broadcast.”

Minister Denis Naughten previously confirmed that the NBP will be expanded to over 900,000 rural homes and businesses.

“I have a responsibility to ensure that nobody is left behind and that every business, school and home throughout rural communities has access to high-speed broadband within the next 3-4 years” he added.
