Heritage Week

National Heritage Week takes place between the 20th and 28th of August and there will be lots of things to do in Roscommon as well as nationwide.

Each day, we’ll publish a list of the Heritage Week Events throughout Roscommon.

Saturday

Visit a Traditional Thatched Cottage in Kiltoom.

In Castlerea visit “Griffith’s Valuation – a picture of Castlerea and it’s hinterland in the mid 19th Century” or 100 years of farming at Clonalis House.

Visualising the Stories of Ancient Ireland in Tulsk.

Woodland Fun Trail for Kids age 9-99 at Strokestown Park House.

Tour the only Fully Restored & Working Windmill in the West of Ireland.

In Athleague visit an Exhibition of Maps, Photos, Artifacts & Memorabilia from the parish.

“Dig It” – a Free Archaeological Activity for Children in Lough Key.

The B. M. Croker Book Collection at Roscommon Library.

There’s a Afternoon of activities at St John’s Hospital Rinn Duin, Lecarrow.

Fancy a look around Castlecoote House followed by Tea?

Open Day at the Ballydangan Bog Red Grouse Project.

Get some exercise on the Heritage & Biodiversity Walk at Mote Park.

This evening, there’s a tour of Kilteevan Graveyard and a talk.
