Handball

Fiona Tully has won the 17 & Under title at the All-Ireland Junior 40×20 Handball Championships. She defeated Kildare’s Hannah Dagg 15-2, 15-7. There was no joy for other Roscommon representatives. Full report to follow.

Soccer

Ballinasloe Town are through to the Connacht Cup Final, defeating Mervue 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 Draw. Vincent Brooks has a full round-up of the week’s action here

Rugby

Creggs have defeated Carrick 23-17 in a local derby in Ard na Cregg Cup.
Creggs Under 15s defeated Oughterard RFC 34-12 in the Semi-Final of the Connacht Plate in Oughterard.

Rugby

Connacht have booked their place in next season’s Champions Cup following a 35-14 victory over Munster. Denis Buckley put in another impressive performance and Jack Carty made his return from injury as a late sub.

Buccaneers have been defeated 12-23 in the Ulster Bank All-Ireland League, however, they retained the 4th play-off spot as rivals Old Wesley were also defeated, losing 23-24.

In The Herald Premier Division of the Roscommon and District Football League Castlerea Celtic defeated Dysart FC 3-2 and in Round 2 of The Herald RDFL Cup Loughglynn United defeated CP Ajax 3-2 and go through to Round 3 on Sunday.
The Hodson Bay Celtic Football Club U-15s team are through to the Midlands Cup Final. A 1-1 draw this evening saw them defeat Tullamore 4-3 on aggregate

Gaelic Football

CBS Roscommon won the Connacht Juvenille B Football Championship Final, defeating St Attractas, Tubbercurry 3-9 to 3-7

Ladies Gaelic

The Roscommon Under 14 Ladies suffered a 5-13 to 1-3 defeat to Galway in Round 3 of the Connacht Championship

Boxing

Sean Daire of Ballaghaderreen BC was defeated 3-0 by Barry McReynolds (Holy Trinity) in 54kg category at the Connaught Boxing Championship.
