Results round-up

St Barrys/Kilglass U16 Lads suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Boyle in their D4 League game on Tuesday last. Our lads played into the worst of the wet windy conditions in the first half, and struggled to get a decent foothold early on. Boyle made the most of the conditions, but the lads settled into the game and in spite of the wind dying after halftime, they trailed by 6 entering the last ten minutes. With our lads pushing forward, Boyle caught them on the break with 2 quick goals to give themselves a very flattering 6-11 to 3-7 win. Team: R Leonard, E Murphy, M Gaynor, J Coggeran, C McVeigh(1-0), T Mahedy, C McManus(0-1) , C Kidd (0-4 frees), E Diffley(1-2), A McGuinness, F Leavey, A Cox, E Burke. Subs: J McLoughlin, O Fallon (1-0)

The minor lads lost our to a combined St Ronan’s/St Michael’s on a scoreline 3-15 to 3-7 on Monday. They started slowly and trailed 2-6 to 0-2 at 1/2 time, but played well in the second half and could have taken something from the game in the end.

Also on Easter Monday, our Under 16 Girls travelled to Croghan to face Shannon Gaels. The teams were pretty evenly matched in the first half, but St Barry’s missed a lot of scoring chances, while Shannon Gaels took any chances that came their way. The girls fought well in the second half, but couldn’t close the gap.

St Barrys players on county stage

Last week was a very busy one for St Barrys players representing Roscommon at different levels. David Keenan’s return to action at Senior level in the Allianz NFL Division 1 game v Dublin was in addition to Pauric Halpin’s involvement with the Roscommon Minor teams Connacht Minor League campaign.
In the Ladies, Maebh Holmes was on the senior panel that played Tipperary on Sunday, while Sarah McVeigh was with the Under 16s that beat Dublin a challenge on Saturday. Edel Beirne scored 2 points in a good performance in the U14 Championship game against Leitrim on Sunday,on a team managed by Noel Rodgers. Rebecca Cox also continues to feature in goals for the Minor ladies, while Ciaran McManus has been involved with the U15 (boys) Development squads.
It’s a good reflection on our club to see these players representing us so well at all the different age groups, and long may it continue.
