Change in Polling Stations causing confusion – Fitzmaurice

General Election 2016
A change in designated Polling Stations is causing confusion for voters in certain areas according to Independent Candidate for Roscommon Galway Michael Fitzmaurice.

“It has come to my attention over the past few days that since polling cards have been sent out that there is confusion in some areas over where people will cast their vote. I have come across a case of people who live just a hundred yards for the local school where they have voted all their lives, and they have received notice that they have to vote five or six miles away, which makes no sense at all. In a lot of cases a second box at the original location would have solved the problem. Some people have told me that they will not be voting at all as a result of this new development. It is a pity that people will not be able to cast their vote because of this situation and candidates will be losing out as a result”
